At 4:24 in the morning on Sunday, June 21st, something shifted. The sun reached its highest point in the sky. The longest day of the year arrived, held its breath, and quietly began the turn toward darker mornings. Summer became official. And almost all of us slept right through it all Two days later, here we are. The solstice is behind us, the 4th of July is ahead of us, and the year is moving quite fast. But before you let July take over and the second half of 2026 just happen to you, there is a question worth sitting with.
How are you? No, how are you really doing today? Not, how is your to-do list, the job, or business, nor how are the kids or family?
How are you doing? How are you feeling as you are going through life these days?
The Halfway Mark Nobody Talks About
We celebrate New Year's. We mark birthdays. But nobody throws a party for the midpoint of the year, which is a shame, because this moment is one of the most powerful reset opportunities we all get to have. You are standing at a pivot point with six full months of lived experience behind you and six months of possibility still ahead. That is not a small thing. That is everything. And yet so many of us will blow right past this moment and land in December, wondering where the year has gone. Not this time. This time we are going to do things differently. We are going to do a mini self-audit or self-assessment.
What Your Energy Is Trying to Tell You
Here is what I know after years of working with women in corporate America, building businesses, raising families, and trying to take care of themselves; exhaustion is information, and it is very real data that open eyes and dictate wisdom. If you are feeling drained right now, that is not weakness. That is data. Your body and your spirit are telling you something that your schedule has been too loud to hear. Protecting your peace is a strategic decision. When you are energetically depleted, your decision-making becomes reactive, your creativity stalls, and you start building a life out of obligation rather than intention. You stop choosing and start just surviving.
The summer stretch between the solstice and the 4th of July is one of the most natural rest windows in the entire year. The culture is already softening. Lean into that. No matter what is going on around you, you are allowed to rest before you are desperate.
Your Mid-Year Energy Audit/Assessment
Take out a notebook and pen or pencil. Find fifteen to twenty quiet minutes. Answer these three questions honestly:
Where did I give away my power or my time over the last six months out of guilt or habit?
What was the single most life-giving project, boundary, or ritual I maintained?
What is one piece of emotional or mental clutter I am carrying right now that I need permission to put down before July 1st?
There are no wrong answers. There is only the truth you have been too busy to sit with.
Nurturing What Matters for the Next Six Months
The next six months do not have to look like the last six. You get to decide that right now, before July takes over and the year starts sprinting again.
Give yourself permission to pause this week. Close the spreadsheets, silence the notifications, and look at your life with compassion and kindness, rather than critique. Nurture the energy that keeps you grounded. Patch the leaks. Let the rest of 2026 be defined not by how much you produce, but by how deeply you breathe and are able to live in the moment.
You still have time to make this year mean something. But it starts with being honest about where you are right now.
