Happy Heart Month!

Listen up and do so with great intention. This isn't just another health article about America Heart Health Month. This is an actual wake-up call that could save your life.

In 2024, over 930,000 Americans have died, not from war, not from accidents, but from something entirely preventable; heart disease. That is one in four deaths. Let that sink in for a moment. You could be next, or you could be the one who breaks the cycle and decide to do things differently so that you can live life with vigor and thrive.

The brutal truth? Your health is a choice. Not a maybe. Not a someday. It’s a choice you have control over every second you that you walk on this planet. Yes, yes you are that powerful of a human being.

Imagine your body as a high-performance machine. Would you feed a Lamborghini cheap, contaminated fuel? Of course not. So why on god’s earth are you poisoning your most important vehicle, your body with nonsense when you are much more important than a piece of metal? Every processed meal, every lazy day on the couch or with no movement other than to go to the restroom, every ignored warning sign is a nail in your own coffin. Now take a moment and think about that.

Portion control isn't a suggestion; it’s a survival tactic that is quite beneficial. Those nutrition labels aren't decoration; they're your roadmap to staying alive. Saturated fats and trans fats are silent killers, slowly destroying your cardiovascular system with each bite. Replace them now before it is too late.

Fiber isn't boring; it's your body's secret weapon. Whole grains, fruits, vegetables aren't just food. They're your armor against disease. Oat bran isn't just breakfast, it's a cholesterol-crushing shield that protects your heart as is a host of other foods like leafy greens, avocados, fruits like berries or acai bowls, quinoa, brown rice and the likes.

Physical Activity

Physical activity isn't punishment, it's liberation. 150 minutes a week. That's less time than you spend scrolling on social media. Walking, dancing, climbing stairs, pickle ball, movement is thy medicine. And the prescription is written in your DNA. Breakdown 150 minutes a week any way you’d like. 30 minutes in the morning and 30 at night. 30 minutes 5 days a week. 60 minutes at night 2 days a week and 30 minutes 1 day a week. Get what is meant.

The Time Is Now

Stop making excuses and stop procrastinating. "I'm too busy." "I'm too tired." "I don't have time." These are all lies you’ve been telling yourself for too long to avoid the hard truth; that your actual health is 100% your responsibility.

Solutions & Truth

Find an activity you love. Whether it is dancing, swimming, hiking. Biking, walking, etc. Whatever ignites your passion to move get on the bandwagon and stop making excuses or procrastinating and just do it. Because the alternative is a slow, preventable decline in your health.

Your heart doesn't care about your schedule. It doesn't negotiate. It demands respect, and right now, you're failing it.

This isn't about looking good. This is about staying ALIVE. About being there for your family. About writing your own story, not letting disease write it for you. Do you feel me?

Every meal is a choice. Every step is a decision. Every moment is an opportunity to fight back against a system that wants you sick, tired, and dependent on it as if you don’t have a mind of your own and can make your own decisions.

American Heart Month isn't just a calendar event. No, no it's your personal declaration of war against heart disease. It’s time to fight for your life, after all is you don’t who do you think will do this for you?

Conclusion

The power over your health or life for that matter is in your hands. Your fork. Your heart. Your feet. Your actions. Your future. You are in control of it all. Will you surrender, or will you fight? The choice is yours. But remember this, inaction is a choice too. And it's a fatal one. So, are you ready to take control of your life; specifically your heart health? Then start by changing what's on the other side of your fork and what is on your plate. One more thing, Friday February 7th is National Wear Red Day in honor of raising awareness of heart disease and cardiovascular disease.
